The 4 Biggest Problems Women In Chiropractic Face – Part 4

After 11 years of consulting with other chiropractors on their lives and practices, and almost 4 years specifically coaching female chiropractors, I’ve identified the 4 biggest problems women in chiropractic face.

If you’d like to proactively do your best to avoid these problems (which you can)…

Or, you’re dying to make life and practice as a working mama easier, what you’ll read here will help you.

In this series of 4 posts, you’ll learn what these 4 big problems are and what you can do about them.

But just as we talked about in Part 1 of this series, we have to make sure we’re clear on how I’m defining “big problems” here.

I mean, when I think of big problems, I think of medical kidnapping, the broken healthcare industry, corruption in government and politics, poverty, homicide….

You know, real light and fluffy topics, right?

Those are truly BIG problems.

But for our purposes, I’m not talking about those kinds of really big problems.

Other big problems like:

Your baby was born at 30 weeks and is in the NICU…

Your mom has a rapidly-progressing neurological disorder and can no longer live independently….

You have cancer…

Yeah, these are really big problems.

But again, we’re not going to be focusing on these types of life challenges.

Those problems can affect anyone, not just a woman who’s a chiropractor.

And we’re going to focus here on the unique problems that you and I face in life and in practice.

Clear?  Good!

Let’s pick up where we left off.

Problem #4:  Time.

As in…. We feel like there’s never enough of it.

Now, of course, this is a really common problem.

Feeling overwhelmed and exhausted isn’t unique to women in chiropractic.

It’s become essentially “normal” for people in our culture to feel busier than ever and yet like nothing is actually getting done.

People everywhere are constantly connected to work and over-committed in life, too.

But there’s an extra layer of time-constraint that IS somewhat unique to being a woman who practices chiropractic and is raising a family.

It’s a topic that people in our profession aren’t talking about because… well, some people just don’t want to talk about the solutions as it gets into a philosophical debate about chiropractors “just being chiropractors.”

Here’s the thing: There’s only 24 hours in the day and only 7 days in the week.

There’s only so much time you can spend working, especially when your work involves manual labor.

You have to have time to rest, recover and relax.  Time that your parasympathetic nervous system takes the lead.

You have to have time for your family.  It’s non-compromiseable.

To be the mom you want to be, you need to be present.

Time is your most precious resource.  Once you’ve spent it, you never get it back.

There comes a point in practice where you reach your maximum.  Your patient care schedule is as full as you can handle, reducing your appointment times any further would affect the type of care that you provide, and your body doesn’t want to adjust any more people than you already are.

But, what if you reach this phase of practice, and you’re not yet making an income that allows you to reach your big goals?
